Activities that scream adventure!
This is the wilderness except you repose in comfort! The outdoor adventure travel activities you can pursue while visiting Quatsino Sound are kayaking, hiking in old growth forest or out to remote beaches, beachcombing, bird watching, touring exotic rock formations, or just plain laying around relaxing without the hassle of the busy world. Enjoy the night sky where there is no light pollution to disturb your view.Everyday on the water is adventure travelling! Sheltered waterways make it a kayakers dream. The Summer mornings usually see the water flat as glass, with a westerly building in the afternoon for those kayakers who wish a wave to surf on. The area is visited by Humpback and transient Orcas (killer whales). Sea Otters have moved into Quatsino Sound in the in abundant numbers and it is not unusual to see upwards of twenty together sunning themselves on the surface after a hard morning feeding or "waving" to you as they dive under the surface to get out of your way. |

There are many bays, nooks and crannies for the kayaker to get into within 4 miles of the resort. While you paddle quietly into these you may come across black bear feeding on the beach or deer licking the salt of seaweed. You may bring your own kayak or allow us to arrange the rental of one for you. Bird watching is good all year with the highlights being in February when the Bald Eagles gather in the Narrows to feed on herring. Many dabbling ducks, diving ducks and Herons abound at the mouth of the many rivers in the area throughout the year. In the Summer should you catch a bass or rockfish, a small tap on the head, a sharp whistle, a toss of the fish into the water will bring bald eagles out of the tallest trees to feed on your small treat as the picture at the left shows. |

Have yourself photographed with your head in the mouth of the underground bear!!!. There are many caves in the area as a band of limestone runs through the Quatsino area that leads to many unique and interesting rock formations. As a 35 year resident of the North Island Dave can set up an Adventure Travel Tour for you around the North Island, using Quatsino as a base, customizing what you wish to see- Caves, Minerals, Old Mines, Wild Rock formations carved by Water, or Remote beaches.
